Atletico Madrid vs Granada CF match preview

MATCH PREVIEW

Top contenders Atletico Madrid will look to retain league leadership and remain unbeaten this weekend as they clash with a poor performing squad Granada CF who are fighting off relegation, at the Vicente Calderón Stadium on Saturday 15th October  as the 2016-2017 La Liga season enters its 8th matchday.

Atletico Madrid had taken league leadership from cross-city rivals Real Madrid after going on a two-game winning run while Los Blancos were held to three straight drawn matches.

Head coach Diego Simeone got a goal each from his two French starting forwards, Antoine Griezmann and Kevin Gameiro. A goal 3 minutes after the hour mark and 3 minutes into stoppage time was enough to claim victory at the Mestalla.

Meanwhile, Granada succumbed to its third consecutive loss as the team was edged by newly-promoted side Leganes, 0-1, at the Los Carmenes Stadium on Oct. 1. Granada is one of only two clubs that are still winless so far this season, with the other one being Osasuna.

The hosts are firm favorites against such a weak Granada side this term however there is obviously room for a surprise as we've already seen Eibar claim a draw at the Bernabeu and Alaves win at the Camp Nou.

PREDICTION

Atletico is expected to keep a clean sheet in this fixture with a worse being a 0-0 draw for them.
